It’s that time of year again. Time to shake off those obligatory “new year, new me” shackles you tied yourself into and embrace Cupid’s favourite month. You’ll see plenty of loved up, romantic posts this month in honour of Valentine’s Day (we’re not knocking them), but we’re mixing it up a little bit. Rejecting gushing romance and celebrating the very notion of partnership in all the different forms it can take. Some things are just better together..
1 - Coffee Shops and Laptops
Can you remember the last time you set foot in a coffee shop that didn’t have free wi-fi? Nope? Neither can we. Thanks to this revelation, your favourite coffee shops are permanently full to the bursting with students revising and professionals conference calling. Whether this is a good or a bad thing is up for constant debate, but it’s true nonetheless.
2 - Danny and Sandy
Would you just look at these two? Peas in a pod. Danny and Sandy are one of pop culture’s most timeless power couples, and thanks to our rockers sock set you can wear them on your feet! Psst.. these would make a great Valentine’s gift.
3 - Nick Frost and Simon Pegg Image credit: Gage Skidmore
Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead are arguably two of the greatest films ever made. Ever. Frost and Pegg are the ultimate movie dream team, but having one without the other just doesn’t feel the same. Talented as they both are individually, they’re a duo always better together.
4 - Breakups and Ice Cream
A cliche for a reason. Solace is to be found at the bottom of a carton of ice cream when a relationship comes to a close, it’s an (ice) cold hard fact. If you know a poor soul suffering from a break up, check out Johnny Slept and Taylor Sleep. They’re on a mission to keep you company in bed and just so happen to be two of the finest break up consolation prizes there are.
5 - Sunsets and Instagram
Whether you like it or not, social media is slowly starting to dominate pretty much every single aspect of our lives. Beautiful sunset in sight? You’ll lose count of how many people are whipping their phone out to take the perfect shot for the gram.
6 - Millenials and Screens
People born before the 90s just don’t understand the millenial need to be very, very close to at least one screen at all times. Watching TV whilst checking out the latest Twitter news on a laptop and simultaneously Snapchatting on a smartphone is completely standard practise. Multi tasking at its finest.
7 - Birthdays and Gifts Image credit: Shari's Berries
Birthdays are great for catching up with old friends and going for a pint with your Dad, but let’s face it: the only thing that makes growing one year older somewhat bearable is a neat little stack of presents. Friend or family member got a birthday coming up? Make sure you check out our range of witty socks - there’s a perfect pair for everyone!
Don’t forget to share this post with the people you love most to remind them how much better you are together, we wish you all a very happy Valentine’s Day!
